“The field is expanding rapidly, and while not every development will come to fruition, a meaningful fraction will.”

Abi Pinchbeck, Editor, Cell and Gene Therapy Insights , speaks with Christian Chabannon, Professor of Medicine in Cell Biology at Aix Marseille Université, following the recent PwC and Terumo BCT event on improving access to ATMPs, and the publication of a white paper exploring the barriers shaping advanced therapy delivery across Europe and beyond. Reimbursement frameworks, system readiness, and uneven regulatory application across Europe remain significant barriers, while low- to middle‑income countries face even greater constraints. He outlines how the work of the GoCART Coalition is addressing these gaps, and how potentially transformative technologies on the horizon could impact the future of the space.
