As part of our ongoing coverage of key gatherings in the nucleic acid therapeutics space, Nucleic Acid Insights presents a preview of Oligonucleotides & Peptides World Asia 2026. Scheduled for June 30–July 1, 2026, in Singapore, the conference will bring together over 300 attendees from across biotech, pharma, academia, and CDMOs to explore the latest developments in RNA therapeutics, oligonucleotide manufacturing, peptide innovation, and delivery technologies across the APAC region. In this preview, we highlight key sessions, speakers, and themes that will shape the conversation at one of Asia's most anticipated nucleic acid therapeutics events.

RNA therapeutics in 2026 – from clinical momentum to commercial manufacturing reality

The first day will center on the commercial and translational state of RNA therapeutics in 2026. An opening leadership panel featuring Jin Li (Head of Research Department, CanSino (Shanghai) Biological Research Co., Ltd), Janise Chevrier-Lee (Country Medical Director Singapore, Roche Singapore), and Yasumasa Ota (mRNA Technology Leader, Meiji) will examine manufacturing maturity gaps across mRNA, small interfering RNA (siRNA), self-amplifying RNA (saRNA), and antisense oligonucleotides (ASOs), and Asia's growing role in global RNA supply chains. Wonil Kim (CSO, Aston Sci) will then survey emerging modalities beyond mRNA, including saRNA, circular RNA, siRNA, and aptamers, addressing translational barriers and early regulatory signals for next-generation RNA products. Afternoon sessions turn to delivery and manufacturing, with Poon Hung Fai (CEO, Sirnaomics) presenting on evolving siRNA delivery platforms and strategies for tissue-specific delivery beyond the liver, and Arvind K Jain (Deputy General Manager, R&D – mRNA Vaccines, Biological E. Limited) addressing formulation and process development for scalable mRNA and LNP manufacturing, covering lyophilization, scale-up challenges, and complex injectable considerations. The day will close with a leadership panel featuring Xian Zeng (CEO and Co-Founder, Byterna Therapeutics), Wonil Kim, and Poon Hung Fai, examining emerging RNA modalities and key developments to watch over the next three to five years.

Peptides and oligonucleotides at an inflection point – innovation, scale, and the backbone of next-generation medicines

The second day will broaden the program to encompass peptide therapeutics and oligonucleotide drug development. An opening panel featuring Jia-Ming Chang (CEO, Vacino Biotech), Xuezhi Bi (Senior Principal Scientist, Bioprocessing Technology Institute, A*STAR), and Ya-Shan Chuang (Director of Medical Affairs, Immunwork) will examine why peptides are re-emerging as a preferred therapeutic modality, how they compare with small molecules and biologics, and what recent approvals signal for the coming decade. A subsequent manufacturing-focused panel will bring together Mohamed ElSayed (Executive Director, Nucleic Acid Therapeutics Initiative), Rakesh Veedu (Professor, Murdoch University; Co-Founder & CEO, ProGenis Pharmaceuticals), and Adam Zhao (Chairman & CEO, Anlong Bio Inc.) to address how oligonucleotides underpin key RNA modalities, the scale-up challenges specific to each, and opportunities for APAC-wide collaboration in end-to-end RNA production. Rakesh Veedu will also deliver a dedicated presentation on the chemistry and design of next-generation splice-switching ASOs, drawing on clinical lessons from approved therapies for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy and Spinal Muscular Atrophy and outlining how novel chemistries are advancing therapeutic performance.

Oligonucleotides & Peptides World Asia 2026 is the region's leading platform dedicated to advancing oligonucleotide and peptide-based therapeutics across the value chain, bringing together 300+ attendees and 35+ speakers. Co-located with Cell & Gene Therapy World Asia 2026 in Singapore, the event will feature presentations spanning ASOs, siRNA, and peptide therapeutics, innovative delivery and formulation technologies, scalable manufacturing, and evolving regulatory frameworks across APAC. With a focus on accelerating development pipelines and strengthening regional collaboration, the congress offers a comprehensive view of Asia's growing oligonucleotide and peptide ecosystem from early-stage R&D to large-scale production.
