“Success depends on preparedness and a commitment to investment early on...”

Oligonucleotide therapeutics are advancing rapidly, yet their ability to scale to meet rising demand remains constrained. Emerging platforms and hybrid technologies offer new opportunities to overcome these limits, but their adoption requires careful consideration of economic viability, equivalency and overall readiness. Manufacturers must determine when solid-phase methods are no longer the most efficient or sustainable option. Making the transition to new technologies is important for meeting demand and achieving commercially robust oligonucleotide manufacturing.

Nucleic Acid Insights brought together a panel of experts to discuss the main challenges and future directions within this space: Barrie Cassey (Principal Consultant, Invox), Fred Briones (Senior Director of CMC, City Therapeutics), Peter Smith (Director of New Modalities Chemistry, AstraZeneca), and Michael Delaney (Senior Principal Scientist in RNAi Chemical Development, Novo Nordisk). The discussion covers the most critical obstacles to scaling oligonucleotide production and the strategies available to address them.
